Maggie Kamau-Biruri, MPA. Director
|
|
Maggie is the Founding Director of ICRI-Africa, a nonprofit organization that supports and nurtures grassroots organizations allowing them to gain access to funds and recognition as critical stakeholders in development. A strong proponent of grassroots sustainable development, Maggie has spoken extensively about the role of grassroots and advocated for donor support to Community Based Organizations. Prior to returning to Kenya in 2005 to oversee the ICRI-Africa office, Maggie lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for more than 10 years where she worked in various nonprofit organizations. As the Communications Director for ICRI-HQ, Maggie assured constant communication with all ICRI offices around the world and was involved in fund development for ICRI international programs. Maggie has consulted and advised multiple international organizations working in Africa as well as advised donors interested in Africa. Maggie has made numerous presentations on Africa issues including at the Community Foundation of Minneapolis/Minnesota Council of Foundations, Association of Small Foundations, Global Philanthropy Forum, and San Francisco World Affairs Council. Ms. Kamau sits on the Boards of Project Baobab, an organization that provides opportunities for marginalized youth through youth entrepreneurship and Akili Dada, an organization that supports and nurtures the next generation of women leaders through paying their school fees and mentoring bright young women in Kenyan high schools. Maggie also serves on the advisory Boards of several organizations in the US and in Africa including The Clarence Foundation, Women of Africa and Harambee Arts. Maggie holds a Masters in Public Administration (MPA) and B.A in Education.

Agatha King’ori – Administrative Coordinator

|
Agatha is the Administrative Coordinator at ICRI-Africa. She is a graduate from United States International University- Africa, with a Bachelor of Science degree in International Business Administration. Since 2000, she has worked in two different sectors: Sales and Marketing, and in the Non Profit sector, where her jobs have included; Administration, Research, Sales, Marketing, Customer service and clerical duties. With this experience and educational background, she fit wells into her current role of Coordinator, performing duties such as Accounting, Human Resources, Management and research among others. She feels proud to work in an organization promoting childrens welfare. When not working, Agatha likes to travel.

Leonard Chumo Falex - Operations and Project Manager
|

Leonard Chumo Falex holds a (Double Major) Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics and Sociology from the University of Nairobi, and is currently undertaking his MBA and is a student at the Leadership Training institute, Nairobi. He consults on Organizational Growth and Leadership and a co-founder of Christian Youth in Action (CYIA), Prior to joining, ICRI, Leonard had actively participated in the periodic trainings offered by ICRI (Africa) while working at the National Assembly of Kenya. While volunteering at ICRI, Leonard developed great passion in Grass root advocacy programs carried out by ICRI (Africa). He has served as Deputy Principal at Kapkirwok High School and Administrator of Christian Relief Fund, Amarillo, he has worked with the Constitution of Kenya Review Commission as a constituency committee member representing the youth, at the Ministry of Labor as an Enterprise Development Officer, before joining ICRI, Leonard worked at Barclays Bank at the Head Office- Operations. He is honored to be associated with the Reputation of ICRI in being at the fore front championing an Africa where all children and families are safe, healthy and economically empowered.

Janet Ndeto Mwitiki, Program Coordinator, Daraja Early Childhood Program

Janet holds a degree in education from Kenyatta University and has worked as an administrator, teacher and trainer for more than 10 years. She has conducted numerous program assessments for our early childhood program and is very well versed in-depth interviews and environmental assessments through observation and interaction with staff. Janet has excellent facilitation skills and has conducted several training for ECD teachers and in child abuse prevention and child protection. Janet is passionate about working with community based groups to help them improve their programs. Prior to joining ICRI Africa, she worked as an Administrator at Moi Air Base pre-primary school for over ten years.

Ann Nyakio Kamau, Assistant Program Coordinator, Daraja Early Childhood Program

Ms. Kamau brings years of classroom experience in early childhood education. Ann is passionate about working with children and is an excellent teacher and is much loved by children. She has experience in development of learning materials using locally available resources and found objects. Ann holds a certificate in Early Childhood Education and Kenya Headmistress Association Course. Prior to joining International Child Resource Institute-Africa, she worked with Kyuna Christian Kindergarten Group of Schools for seven years. She is fluent in Kiswahili and English.

Ann Rubia, Program Assistant
|

Ann has been part of the ICRI team since 2006, first as a volunteer and then the Receptionist. Ms. Rubia is now part of the Daraja Early Childhood team. She holds a Diploma in Community Development and Social Work. Ann also works for Akili Dada as the Program Intern, Akili Dada is an International Non Profit Organization working to ensure that the next generation of Kenya’s leaders includes women from diverse economic background. As the Akili Dada Intern, Ann is responsible for the day to day operations of the organization including liaising with schools, the scholars, coordinating community service and all administrative work for Akili Dada.

John Omenda, Office Assistant

John is the ICRI-Africa’s Office Assistant. John provides support to ICRI-Africa staff in different capacities including front office, office maintenance, office errands. Before joining ICRI, I worked with readers Digest a magazine distribution company as an Office assistant for three years.

Ben Mutua, Driver
|
|
Mr. Mutua is the ICRI-Africa’s driver and a member of the Daraja Early Childhood Team. He brings many years of experience as a driver and mechanic. He has gained a lot of experience in early childhood education through his daily interaction with the ECE team and is much loved by the children. He is considering taking early childhood education classes.

Rahab Gichanga – SMI Project Intern

Rahab Gichanga holds a Diploma in Business Administration. Having volunteered in a rehabilitation center for street girls in Nairobi she realized she had developed a passion to work with community based programs especially those that try to reach out to the vulnerable in the society. In October 2008 she got an opportunity to work for International Child Resource Institute as an Intern. She has been greatly involved in their major projects such as the annual Make a Difference Project, and was the lead program associate for the Social Microenterprise Initiative.
